Clean Your Shit Up

I’m going to come off like an asshole, but make your children do some chores. I know it’s hard and I know at times you may be too tired to care, but you’re doing your children a disservice if you only expect them to just clean their room and get good grades in school. They grow up to be young adults who have to deal with adults ,like me, who actually had chores as a child and they are driving us mad. As a child I was required to clean the house on weekends, do my laundry and cook on occasion and still bring home the grades. Cleanliness has to be taught.

Do you know how many filthy apartments I’ve been in? Or people who didn’t know how to properly load a dishwasher?  In my opinion if you don’t know how to do a little cooking and cleaning, it means you will not be able to help maintain a household , therefore you become less attractive to me.

I’m not by any means a neat freak, but roaches don’t pay rent so they shouldn’t be in my place. I’m well aware that work and school get in the way. School usually has me by my balls and cooking and cleaning goes to the bottom of my priority list. But even with the little time I have I still try to at least keep my place tidy so I’m not living in a filthy mess.

And it’s not attractive to not know how to cook. You should at least know four meals you can make yourself. This shit is ridiculous. I feel like I’m ranting like an old person.

I’m just saying when you picture your life I bet you never saw yourself living in filth. You just don’t.

I Remember When….

I was younger I had an obsession with cutting things. My sister had to be maybe 11 months and I decided that cutting her eyelashes with a toenail clipper was appealing. My younger sister has always had long eyelashes, I look at her now and want to pry them away from her eyes like fake eyelashes. My mother eventually found out. I straight up told her I did it, with no fear. She didn’t hit me, which I was expecting, but rather told me to cut my own eyelashes. And I did just that, I was then beaten.

Ossie Davis on his open marriage to Ruby Dee
“It occurred to us, from observation and reasoning, that extramarital sex was not what really destroyed marriages, but rather the lies and deception that invariably accompanied it — that was the culprit. So we decided to give ourselves permission to sleep with other partners if we wished — as long as what we did was honest as well as private, and that neither of us exposed the family to scandal or disease. We had to be discreet and, if the word can be apt, honorable in our behavior, both to ourselves, to whomever else might be involved, and most of all, to the family. And for the most part, we were.” Source: Joint biography, page 317
“But looking back, I’d say no matter what did or did not happen, we freed each other. And in doing that, we also freed ourselves…Sex is fine, but love is better. That’s the most important part of being free. In light of what we learned, is extramarital sex something we recommend as a regular part of marriage? Not now…not anymore. Not since AIDS has entered the equation, and genital herpes, syphilis, and other veneral diseases…” Source: Joint biography, page 323-324
